Gennarose Hinzo, LICSW
ABOUT ME
I’m Genna (she/her), I am a trauma therapist based on the occupied ancestral land of the Duwamish also known as Seattle, Washington. My hometown is Los Angeles, California - originally and still inhabited and cared for by the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh, and Chumash.
I find joy in the everyday rituals—those small moments that make life feel big! Outside of work, I’m usually trying out new hobbies (with varying success), nurturing my ever-growing plant collection, or soaking up live music. Podcasts keep me company, and my pup ensures that I never skip a cuddle. Nothing recharges me quite like being by the water or getting lost in nature.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
My approach is warm, honest, and human-centered. My work is grounded in social-justice work values with a deep commitment to healing trauma and the impacts of systemic oppression.
I believe all beings are worthy of play, rest, pleasure, and connection. I integrate a somatic, harm-reduction, decolonized, and relational-based approach, inviting your full self—mind, body, and spirit—into the therapeutic space. Healing is rarely linear. It can be messy, complex, and deeply transformative. In our work together, this "mess" will not only be acknowledged, but held, explored, and honored.
Therapy is a collaborative process. YOU are the expert of your own life. My role is to support you in unraveling tangled cords —through curiosity, creativity, and a deep respect for your agency. We’ll also explore and deconstruct the internalized effects of systemic oppression, with the intention of reconnecting you to your wholeness—coming back home to yourself.
Together, we explore practices of radical self-compassion, transform inner dialogue, and deepen connection to your body, your community, and your foundation.
SPECIALTIES
I specialize in working with those who have been impacted by family trauma, difficult life-transitions, intergenerational trauma, intimate partner/gender-based violence, and relational difficulties. I work with adolescents (13+) and adults, offering tools for growth both inside and outside of the therapy room.
